Psychologists and Early Childhood Community Practitioners offering educational & psychotherapy support for babies, children and families
Ububele offers a range of services for families as well as training programmes for professionals.
Ububele is a registered Non-Profit Organisation (NPO 010-472) and Public Benefit Organisation (PBO 930002474) whose mission it is to have a positive impact on the mental health of disadvantaged South africans through the development and dissemination of training programmes which focus on early childhood and experiential group work.
As an NGO, Ububele’s purpose is to assist children born into poverty to grow up to become emotionally healthy adults, competent parents and good citizens. Our target group is children under the age of seven, their parents and other caregivers. We work with mothers and infants from Alexandra to improve the quality of attachment between them.
Ububele also runs a low-fee Therapy and Assessment clinic
which offers counselling and therapy for children and adolescents, as well as educational assessments and parenting programmes to support families. By making use of our paid-for services you assist us in funding our free services for disadvantaged families.
We run a therapeutic pre-school for children from Alexandra and surrounding areas which provides them with a holistic and enriching ECD experience, as well as therapy for those who need it.
We also provide training courses in psychosocial care and support for those who work directly with children (psychotherapists, social workers, social auxiliary workers, nurses, pre-school teachers, child care workers and lay counsellors). Most community-based childcare workers interact with up to 20 children each day, and so training 100 childcare workers reaches 2 000 children more effectively daily.
