English Medium Waldorf School with International Curriculum
The Village Waldorf School was founded in 1997. It was begun by a devoted group of teachers and parents, with the constructive support and input of the Waldorf Federation. The founding group was committed to providing the educational and spiritual value of a Waldorf education to their children and the surrounding community.
The Village Waldorf School has remained a small school providing this unique educational option to community members who choose Steiner education. The school is situated in Lyttelton Manor, Centurion.
As committed Waldorf Educators in South Africa we strive to provide Waldorf Education - a child centered, holistic and age appropriate education - to children in Pretoria. Our learning experience integrates the important developmental stages of Body, Soul and Spirit through Thought, Feeling and Will. We create a safe environment where each child's individuality is respected and encouraged and we continually endeavor to build a school that will provide a platform from where children can develop and acquire the necessary skills in order to step into life as fully functioning adults adhering to the ideals stated in the vision.
Our success is founded on the effectiveness of our staff; therefore we advocate and jointly support their continued development whilst promoting initiative, originality and excellence.
Since parental involvement is essential in each child's development, we foster his or her ongoing participation in our active school community.
Together we prepare young boys and girls for life by building self-discipline and confidence, encouraging initiative and allowing inner freedom to chart the course of their own destinies. This is accomplished through the provision of a well-structured academic, artistic and practical curriculum. We also emphasize the importance of balance, while exposing children to a wide variety of experiences geared towards self-discovery.
