Art Classes for All Ages!

Bona Bana Art School offers small-group, process-driven art classes for children, teens and adults in Johannesburg. Our lessons are anchored in building strong technical foundations while remaining exploratory, playful, and engaging.

We follow a structured but adaptable, theme-based approach that introduces children to a wide range of art-making practices while encouraging independent thinking and creative confidence.

Our classes focus on drawing, water colour & acrylic painting, air dry clay, mixed media, and digital art.
Through these practices, students develop their creative muscles:
• Fine motor skills
• Focus and listening skills
• Decision-making
• Critical thinking
• Confidence and risk-taking
• Creative problem-solving

Where appropriate, older students are given the opportunity to prepare work for external showcases and youth art platforms, including participation in eisteddfods and exhibitions, with an emphasis on process, confidence, and personal growth rather than competition.

I often hear adults say, “I’m not very creative,” but creativity is not something you either have or don’t. It is a natural way of thinking and problem-solving. Children are full of creative energy. All they need is a focused, supportive space to learn how to use it with confidence.
