Hi there, dedicated parents!
Making the correct choice in an educational and stimulating environment for your child with additional needs, is one of the most critical decisions you will need to make.
Many factors should be taken into consideration when making this decision, to ensure that you choose the most unique environment to support and nurture your child's full potential.
Loving & Supportive Environment
The GAP College is passionate about creating a loving, supportive environment where parents and their children with special needs can feel a sense of belonging and develop their physical, adaptive, social, emotional and cognitive skills in our safe environment.
We focus on core growth development structures that help support our learners and their families to lead functional lives.
Classes and learning groups are organized based on ability, maturity and social cohesion. A family environment is created by having mealtimes and playtimes together as a school. The highlight of each day is the excitement created around our uniquely different teaching/learning methodologies. Our exceptional teachers create a powerful classroom every day filled with exciting activities interspersed with
- Sensory Integration
- Arts & Culture
- Music & Dancing
- Physical Education and Hydrotherapy
- English, Math and Life Skill lessons.
Our structured timetable operates in a way in which each learner is actively involved and able to contribute using their own individual methods of communication and learning styles. New areas of potential are constantly sought out to give our learners that extra little push which wouldn't be possible in a larger scale learning environment.
An Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is created by our multi-disciplinary school-based support team, for each learner, based on an adapted curriculum.
ECD & Special Care Phase, Remedial & Vocational Schooling
We are registered to offer early intervention in our Early Childhood Development Phase, A special Care Phase and Remedial Schooling to Grade 12. After Grade 12 or age reached, we incubate our learners into vocational skills and into sheltered employment.
At GAP, we strive to provide a homely, nurturing, happy learning environment for Special Needs learners. Our aim is to make the school curriculum as accessible as possible and to constantly seek out new areas of potential in our learners. We have a saying at our school that affirms each child''s potential, "Deep inside every child lies the seed of potential, it is up to us to find it and germinate it!"
