Affordable pre-primary and primary private education in a diverse community - from 4 months to grade 7

Orban School is an independent, proudly South African dual-medium school in the heart of the Melville Koppies. We offer affordable pre-primary and primary education in a diverse community.

The Orban spirit thrives in a positive environment. The concept “learn” pertains to the acquisition of significant knowledge and skills that will equip our learners for life – not only in the future but also in the present. The concept “live” pertains to the learners’ overall life experience at school, as meaningful, positive and pleasurable.

English & Dual medium school

We achieve these aspirations within a warm and friendly atmosphere as we strive to maintain a sense of family and belonging. We have one English and one Dual medium class per grade.*-++

With an attitude of acceptance, we view each learner as a valuable individual with unique characteristics as we strive to discover and encourage the unfolding of their full potential. We embrace a continuous learning approach to instill a balanced craving for knowledge, literature, the arts, culture and life skills in each of our learners.

Small classes

Our talented and highly skilled teachers educate through innovative and creative methods, both inside and outside the classroom. Orban also offers Six Bricks and the STEAM learning solution to learners from an early age.

We adapt our teaching to include Google Classroom for digital and online lessons when required. Central to our teachers’ role as custodians of the Orban ethos is their accessibility and willingness to engage in relationships with both learners and parents.

My daughter is attending Orban. I like the small class sizes and the dual-medium. The school is very attentive to the development of the children, e.g. personal attention and focus on excellence. For me the school stands out from the rest in academic achievement and creative expression (music, art, drama and dance) (e.g. Eisteddfod regional winners for “Best Overall Performance for an Institution” for more than 10 consecutive years.

This combination is a very good catalyst to stimulate the children’s leadership skills, e.g. self-confidence and public speaking. If you are looking for a school that will give your child focused attention while having the preferred school experience, I can wholeheartedly recommend Orban.

P.S. Not one day missed during the Lockdown…
