Adler Museum of Medicine

The Museum contains fascinating collections depicting the history of medicine, dentistry, optometry and pharmacy through the ages.

School tours include worksheets which are compliant with the new curriculum and can be used for portfolio work. Tours generally take two and a half hours but we will conform to whatever the educator needs and design the program to fit in with their subject matter, time available and the ages of the children visiting.
What diseases did our ancestors suffer from? And what are the most prevalent diseases in the world today? What was it like to live in an iron lung? What does a leech look like and what are leeches used for in modern medicine? These are some of the questions that will be answered on a visit to the museum.
Career guidance offered: if you would like us to advise your learners on subject choices and requirements for the Faculty of Health Sciences, please request this at the time of booking a tour.
R10 per learner for school tours. Charges may be waived for disadvantaged learners on request.
