No-Sew Bunting

Bunting

Today’s craft is No-Sew Bunting, a very easy project that you can do with a child from toddler to teen.  For younger children, you do the cutting, and then you can both decorate the bunting together.  Or make an assembly line and string many flags in a row for a party.

What You’ll Need for One Bunting Flag

  • a square of craft felt, usually measuring 27 x 27 cm
  • a smaller piece of felt in a contrasting color
  • good sharp scissors
  • ordinary craft glue
  • a piece of ribbon or string, about 1.5 to 2 meters long

Step 1

Fold your square of felt in half like a book.

Step 2

Cut a diagonal line from the bottom center of the fold up to the top corner.  Unfold and you’ll have a triangle.

Step 3

Fold the tip of the triangle up and cut two slits in the triangle, to string the ribbon through.

Step 4

String your ribbon through the slits.

Step 5

From the contrasting piece of felt, cut a letter, a number, or a heart.  Glue it onto the triangle.

Variations and ideas

  • Make each flag a different color
  • Make one flag for each member of the family
  • Or spell out “L-O-V-E”
  • Use shwe-shwe or printed fabric to cut out the letter, but then use pinking shears
  • Decorate your flags with paint or by sticking on jewels, stars, or stickers
