A 100 days have passed and we’re all too familiar with the safety routine: wear a mask, maintain social distancing and wash hands regularly with warm soapy water. But, have we become so comfortable that we may be lax about the way we doing it? Wearing masks is undoubtedly a great safety and hygiene measure- IF it is worn correctly. Here are some reminders on how to wear your mask right.
Common mistakes
Let’s not defeat the purpose. These are the most common mistakes that have been trending:
- Not covering the nose
- Lowering your mask to speak
- un-masking in the office or workspace
How to wear your mask correctly
Make sure your mask:
- Covers your nose (not balanced on the tip).
- Covers your mouth
- Fits snugly- i.e., does not have gaps on the side
- Covers your chin.
Keep your mask clean:
- Wash your hands before masking and again before taking it off.
- Avoid touching your mask when wearing it.
- Don’t let it rest on your neck or forehead.
- Use the straps, or loops when removing the mask. Don’t touch the fabric
- Wash your mask regularly with warm soapy water.
- Remember to alternate: do not wear the same mask repeatedly.
- Store in a clean, dry place.
The best mask
No mask beats the mask of staying at home! Avoid going out unnecessarily, or for too long. Stay home. Stay safe.
