This Story Telling Competition is another first for Smithsonian’s H2O Today! Celebrate Water Week from March 16th – 22nd 2020 at Sci-Bono Discovery Centre with a story tell!

The five best stories will be read at a special event at Sci-Bono Discovery Centre on International Water Day, 22nd March 2020.

How to enter

Tick off these requirements and you’re ready to go. It is very easy to enter.


      • Pen an original story, no more than 500 words in length
      • In ANY South African Language
      • It can be set anywhere, BUT,  it must have Water in its theme.
      • Check your age category:
               5 to 8 years,
               9 to 13 years,
               14 to 18 years.

Submit your entry

      • Write, scan and email your story OR
      • hand it in at the reception at Sci-Bono Discovery Centre in Newtown, Jhb
      • Note: stories are judged anonymously, without regard to grammar, punctuation or spelling.

Closing Date 

Friday, 6th March 2020.

Finalists will be notified and will spend International Water Day at Sci-Bono.

NB! Getting to Sci-Bono Discovery Centre will be the finalists own responsibility.
