This heritage day (and month) take a break from the city and discover the awe-inspiring natural heritage of the Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve. Nestled in the heart of the Cradle of Humankind, the reserve is home to four of Africa’s Big Five.
Our national (lion) pride is a sight to behold, especially on Wednesdays, weekends and public holidays when they devour their feed. Enjoy the view of our springbokkies sprinting across the plains, spot our cheetahs, watch out for the real zebra crossing (our animals always have right of way at our reserve)
The reserve boasts a number of rare and endangered species including our white rhinos, African wild dogs, white lions, as well as both sable and roan antelope.
If you’re feeling as brave as our Bokke, take in our snake show and come face to face with one of the 160 species native to Mzansi. Our educational wildlife center is also a must-see and learn more about the history and habits of our precious animals.
Fancy a Heritage Day Braai ?
All that excitement is sure to help you build up a healthy appetite. The good news is that you can tuck into anything your heart desires at one of our five restaurants.
