Petra’s Edu-Playgroup is a fully private, unique, passionate owner run preschool founded in 1992. Our setting is in a beautiful large garden in which children spend many hours learning through play.

We welcome children from 3 months old up to and including Grade Rs. Our children are nurtured by amazing facilitators (teachers and assistants).

Reggio Emilia inspired learning

We are inspired by the Reggio- Emilia philosophy: guided by the children, open ended outcomes, learning through discovery, processes and explorations.

We learn through discovery, experimentation and exploration using our senses and enjoy sensory experiences daily enjoying mud, water, clay and sand play.

Baby Massage IAIM (International Association of Infant Massage)

Learn to massage your baby - a beautiful bonding experience plus many more benefits: improves sleep patterns, soothes a crying baby, reduces stress, constipation, colic and gas. Develops stronger muscles and coordination and boosts the immune system, as well as increases circulation.

Five week course with weekly sessions of between 60-90 minutes.
Each week we focus on a different area. We demonstrate and guide you through the different techniques for the different body areas.
You will practice the techniques on your own baby.

R850 per five week group session.
R1100 per five week private sessions. (added travelling cost if in your own home)
We are based in Senderwood, Bedfordview but will travel up to a 20 km radius from Bedfordview.

Under the African sea music album

After 30 years in the biz, local ECD educator launches children’s music album! Coming soon to Apple Music and in limited hard copy is a collection of original, locally produced songs about the many sea creatures we can find in our African seas. The album will be available on Friday 19th November on all music platforms. At present two songs available on Apple Music.

Community

We include all members of our school community in our emergent teaching: the gardener the guards, the chefs and parents of our school. We support the beautiful WINGS OF HOPE SCHOOL in Belgravia.

NaturEd - school tours & extra mural activities

We offer preschool and school outings in the forest for children to connect directly with nature through curiosity, discovery and inquiry, engaging all five senses. This encourages optimal development of neural pathways in the brain for cognitive, physical, socio-emotional and spiritual growth. Extra murals are ongoing every week. You can also book a school tour with us.

Learning while playing in nature naturally develops problem- solving, creative thinking, self- regulation and risk awareness skills. Nature is healing and calming and in today’s crazy busy world and classrooms filled with pressure, noise and stress, children need to be given time in nature to be calm in heart, body and soul.
