Mobile Theatre Company offering Shows for Schools based on Books
Hooked on Books is a dynamic Children’s Educational Theatre company traveling to schools across South Africa. We specialise in creating a love of reading from an early age. Hooked on Books has been creating readers since 1993. We are very proud to say, a homegrown South African brand.
We dramatise book-trailers from modern day children’s books and present a variety of wholesome new titles every year. Stories are left at a nail-biting cliff-hanger, and children rush to the library to find out how the story ends. The Hooked on Books shows are exciting as we add large dollops of humour, song & dance, colourful characters, drama and adventure. Clever audience participation gets kids jumping into books with us and igniting imaginations.
We visit schools all around the South Africa at various times throughout the year.
Creating a Love for Reading from an Early Age
Pre-Primary School Show
- Hooked on Books with Wiggly & Woggly | Ages 2-6
Our two irresistible bookworms, Wiggly and Woggly, travel all the way from Story Galory Town to take young audiences on a magical journey through various picture books. They encourage a love of reading and use of imagination from an early age.
This is a highly interactive, fun and colourful show where 4 or 5 varied books are brought to life. This show has the right amount of spice to keep children engaged. All around the country Pre-schoolers can be heard singing Wiggly & Woggly’s famous song, “We’re all about the books No TV!”
Primary School Show

- Hooked on Books Senior primary show | Ages 9-13
Here we offer a Junior Primary and Senior Primary show. Books are selected for the appropriate reading levels per show.
