Charity Organisation

hArt has several divisions such as the hArt Gontjie, hArt Educare and hArt Day Centre. Below is a short description of each of these divisions.

hArt Gontjie - A place of safety

The word "Ghontjie" is Tsotse-taal (local slang) for the English slang words "Pozzi" or "Digs". At hArt Ghontjie we understand that now, more than ever before, we need to equip the youth to enable them to reach their potential and adapt in an ever- changing economic climate. In light of this the centre accommodates severely underprivileged youth, in particular boys. Ghontjie has two full time staff members; in the evenings one of the staff members also functions as a house parent, along with her husband. Every evening the boys have a meal together with the house parents and their two children. Ultimately trust is the key to having a meaningful and long lasting effect on the lives of others.

Despite the often tragic circumstances that the boys find themselves in, at hArt we believe that no situation is without hope, and that with time, love and perseverance we can make a difference one life at a time.

hArt Educare

This division was born out of the need for underprivileged children needing to go to school or university. hArt EduCare aims to benefit, support, and further the education of the youth. This is practically implemented through means of sponsorship/bursaries, mentorship, and tutoring. The investment on the part of those involved therefore, is not only financial but one of time, skills, and long-term commitment to improving the future of the youth.

There are several beneficiaries to the Educare program, there are four high school children and one studying at the JHB culinary and pastry school. Hopefully more children can be identified and more money can be made available for them to receive an education that will set them up for a prosperous life.

Gabriel Praise Centre

hArt Dau Centre is a new project that aims to work with children between the ages of 3 and 6 from the Makausi Informal Settlement in Primrose. The Centre provides children, who's parents are unable to afford sending their children to creche, the opportunity to receive early childhood development. Our vision is to provide a centre where neglected and vulnerable children, between the ages of 3yrs to 6yrs old, can be cared for; where they will receive basic pre-school education, food, clothing and love.
