Specialised Intervention: Education and Therapy

C.A.R.E, The Centre for Autism, Research and Education, registered with The Department of Education, is an early intervention therapy centre pre-school and Centre of Focused Learning, for children aged 18 months to 12 years who present with features of the Autistic Spectrum Disorder. A safe place where these learners come for therapy, education, love and support.
Many parents find school placement for learners on the Autistic Spectrum a daunting task. For both the pre-school years and once the pre-school years have come to an end.

Specialist Intervention Centre's in South Africa are few and far between. CARE seeks to fill this gap that exists in terms of Autism-Specific Education enabling learners to enhance their potential, and optimize their condition, thereby becoming fully functional contributing members of society.

The main focus has been acknowledging that learners with Autism learn differently to neuro-typical learners. Learners with Autism require specialised educational and therapeutic support in the form of Specialist Educators, Speech and Occupational Therapy. CARE provides all of these specialized services under one roof.

Research proves that many learners with Autism progress well and are able to learn an array of skills if they are exposed to adequate educational and therapeutic interventions. Our team together with our specifically adapted facilities and IEDP's in-line with CAPS, allows us to offer a truly multimodal approach. Each class at CARE has between 6-8 learners, the optimal number of learners in an Autism-specific classroom.

Extra-mural activities include:
