Scouts group from 7 to 18 years old in Bryanston
The 1st Rivertrail Scout Group has been in existence since the late 1970s, and has a proud heritage in the Bryanston area.
We are a member of Scouts South Africa (SSA) and of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM).
The mission of Scouting is to contribute to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Law, to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society.
Our Group forms part of the Sandton District in the Gauteng Region. Our group currently has two branches, namely a Scout Troop and a Cub Pack.
Cubs (ages 7-10) follow the Cub trail where they learn new skills, play games, complete creative crafts, enjoy fun camps and community projects. Along their journey they make new friends and acquire a number of badges.
Scouts (ages 11-17) are guided by the Scout Trail. This adventure trail includes a wide range of activities such as hiking, camping, abseiling, swimming, survival skills, first aid or even flying!
When girls and boys reach 11 years old, they leave the Cub Pack and go up to the Scout Troop. This is a special occasion called the Going Up Ceremony. If a child has not been a Cub, then he/she may still join the Scouts.
