We decided to make it a simpler and smaller party than we normally do. We have had some wonderful big birthday parties in the past where everyone was invited. We\u2019ve had a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/parties\/party-themes\/baking-and-cooking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> cooking party<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/parties\/party-themes\/pamper-parties\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a pamper party<\/a>, both great for entertaining close to 30 energetic young people for a good 2 hours.<\/p>\r\n<p>This year we decided to go for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/parties\/party-themes\/games\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">games party.<\/a> We cut the number down to 12 kids and accepted help from one of Lerato\u2019s very organised \u00a0young friends. She \u00a0found the games and then spent 3 afternoons with me planning what turned into an amazing treasure hunt style games party.<\/p>\r\n<p>We started by dividing the 12 young guests into 2 teams.\u00a0Then we identified a location for each game, wrote clues to help \u00a0each group \u00a0move from one game to the next. We also included some riddles at various points<\/p>\r\n<p>These are the party games we\u00a0 played:<\/p>\r\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">ORANGE ANKLES<\/h2>\r\n<p>You<strong> will need<\/strong> &#8211; chairs, oranges\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Create a row of about 24 chairs with a container at one end.<\/li>\r\n<li>The children sit down next to each other at the beginning of the row of chairs.<\/li>\r\n<li>Starting with the first child, they pass the orange from one child to the next with their feet\/ ankles and find a way to reach the container at the end. 2 buckets, one filled with water, the other empty,<br \/>a cup, and an obstacle course<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>\u00a0Create an obstacle course like the one we created where each child had to:<br \/>&#8211; walk around a chair,<br \/>&#8211; step in and out of a tyre,<br \/>&#8211; walk over a trampoline,<br \/>&#8211; kick a ball.<\/li>\r\n<li>Each child fills a cup with water and without spilling, they do the obstacle course.<\/li>\r\n<li>When they reach the end, they empty the cup of water into a bucket.<\/li>\r\n<li>The goal is to continue playing until the empty bucket is full of water.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-353662 size-large lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_6017-1024x556.jpeg\" alt=\"party games water obstacle course\" width=\"800\" height=\"434\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_6017-1024x556.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_6017-300x163.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_6017-768x417.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/IMG_6017.jpeg 1224w\" data-sizes=\"auto\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 800px; Some children even asked to take their brown paper bag boots home.
