\u00a02 DIY Sadaqa\u00a0 (charity) pouches for Ramadaan and Eid<\/h2>\n
Taking the time to make these special gift bags speaks volumes to the recipient. Contrary to popular belief this is not only a m0nth of fasting, feasting and night prayer, but also a time to extend\u00a0 the giving hands. And Eid is no different – Muslims all over pay a “Fitra”, a small amount that is handed over to the less fortunate. These Ramadaan craft ideas can be used for Eid too.<\/p>\n
Ramadaan Craft: Mosque Gift Bag<\/h3>\n

You will need:<\/p>\n
- \n
- Brown paper bags<\/li>\n
- Coloured paper \/ cardboard<\/li>\n
- Stickers<\/li>\n
- Scissors and glue<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Steps:<\/p>\n
- \n
- draw and cut out a dome, door and minaret shape from cardboard<\/li>\n
- Stick onto brown paper bag to form a mosque design<\/li>\n
- Add stickers for additional decoration.<\/li>\n
- Fill the bag with some food, or a little toy and some stationery. Add a little note too.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Ramadaan Craft: Sadaqa Pouches<\/h3>\n

- Felt in various colours<\/li>\n
- Scissors<\/li>\n
- Glue \/ double sided tape<\/li>\n
- Velcro dot stickers<\/li>\n
- Stickers (optional, for added decor)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Steps:<\/p>\n
- \n
- Cut a rctangular piece of felt. This should be double the height you wish the pouch to be, plus a little extra for the flap.<\/li>\n
- Cut out shapes to decorate with.\u00a0 Some ideas: use 2 squares to create an 8 pronged star, kaabah or mosque.<\/li>\n
- Fold over the felt to form\u00a0 pouch. Stick down the sides with glue or double sided tape.<\/li>\n
- Stick on cut outs to decorate. Add stickers, buttons or any other decor.<\/li>\n
- Apply two velcro dot stickers on either end of the flap so thatthe sadaqa pouch can be opened and sealed shut.<\/li>\n
- Fill the pouch with some cash, and a little note too! Give the gift of love!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Eid or Iftaar treat<\/h2>\n
Whats a treat without something sweet! These fashionable cookies can also be used to teach the kids about the phases of the moon.<\/p>\n
Oreo Crescents
<\/h3>\nYou will need:<\/p>\n
- \n
- 1 pack Oreo biscuits<\/li>\n
- 1 slab Milky Bar choclate<\/li>\n
- Yellow food colouring<\/li>\n
- Drip Tray<\/li>\n
- Piping bag (or small ziplock bag)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Steps:<\/p>\n
- \n
- Place 3\/4 of the Milky Bar slab in a microwavable bowl. Melt for 1 min, and stir till smooth.<\/li>\n
- Do the same with the other 1\/4. Colour this with the yellow food colouring. TIP: a toothpick dipped in the colouring and then the chocolate saves your fingers from turning all colours! It is also a good measure for the amount of colouring needed.<\/li>\n
- Dip half the Oreo biscuit in the white chocolate ( can colour this grey). Allow to set on a drip tray.<\/li>\n
- Pour the yellow chocolate into the piping\/ziplock bag. Snipping a tiny pin-head hole in the corner, use this to pipe a crescent moon over the Oreo like the picture above. Allow to set.<\/li>\n
- Dunk and enjoy – remember to share with neighbours and friends!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
