The taste of freshly home baked Xmas biscuits is a wonderful tradition my family enjoy in december.<\/p>\r\n<p>The following biscuit recipes have been\u00a0 tried and tested by my kids and\u00a0 I.\u00a0 I discovered them when I lived in Germany where the culture of home baked Xmas biscuits is widespread and deeply rooted.<\/p>\r\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">CINNAMON STARS \/ \u00a0ZIMTSTERNE<\/h2>\r\n<p>Quantity: 70 stars<br \/>Oven temperature: 160 degrees<br \/>Baking Time: 7-8min<\/p>\r\n<h2>Ingredients:<\/h2>\r\n<p>500 g ground almonds<br \/>5 egg whites<br \/>450g icing sugar<br \/>2 tsp ground cinnamon<br \/>1 Tbl rose water<\/p>\r\n<h2>Icing sugar snow for stars<\/h2>\r\n<ol>\r\n<li>Beat egg whites until they are stiff<\/li>\r\n<li>Add sifted icing sugar<\/li>\r\n<li>Keep 1 cup of this icing sugar mixture aside to coat the biscuits later and the rest you will use to create the biscuit dough<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<h2>Biscuit mixture<\/h2>\r\n<ol>\r\n<li>Add almonds, cinnamon and rose water to the icing sugar mixture. Mix together quickly.<\/li>\r\n<li>cover dough and store in the fridge for at 1 hour.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<h2>Making the stars<\/h2>\r\n<ol>\r\n<li>Sprinkle surface with sugar and roll out the dough (thickness about 1cm). Cut out stars.<\/li>\r\n<li>Paint each star with the icing sugar snow ( made earlier)<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>leave cut biscuits on a tray in the oven overnight to dry out before baking them, then bake them in preheated oven at 160 degrees for 7-8 min<\/li>\r\n<li>Or bake them immediately in preheated oven at 160 degrees for 7- 8 min<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">GERMAN LEBKUCHEN \/HONEY CAKES<\/h2>\r\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-353683 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/German-Lebkuchen-3-56d08e4e3df78cfb37b4ab69-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"Xmas biscuit recipes Lebkuchen on a plate\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/German-Lebkuchen-3-56d08e4e3df78cfb37b4ab69-1024x683.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/German-Lebkuchen-3-56d08e4e3df78cfb37b4ab69-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/German-Lebkuchen-3-56d08e4e3df78cfb37b4ab69-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/German-Lebkuchen-3-56d08e4e3df78cfb37b4ab69.jpeg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\r\n<p>Quantity : 35 biscuits<br \/>Oven temperature: 220 degrees<br \/>Baking Time: 35-40 min<\/p>\r\n<h2>Ingredients:<\/h2>\r\n<p>200g honey<br \/>200g sugar<br \/>2 eggs<br \/>Freshly grated peel of a lemon<br \/>100g chopped candied orange and lemon\u00a0peel<br \/>70g almond sticks<br \/>\u00bd tsp ground cinnamon<br \/>Pinch of:<br \/>salt,grated\u00a0 nutmeg, cloves, cardamom<br \/>500 g flour<br \/>2 tsp baking powder<\/p>\r\n<ol>\r\n<li>Heat and mix the honey and sugar.
