Managing your kids in this win-win way actually teaches responsibility and builds self-esteem, while avoiding punishment.<\/p>\n<p>Here are 12 simple parenting tips that with a bit of practise can help build\u00a0a positive parenting style.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>go down to their eye-level \u2013 this wins their instant attention<\/li>\n<li>acknowledge their feelings and wishes &#8211; without always trying to \u2018fix\u2019<\/li>\n<li>be clear and enthusiastic &#8211; especially in your instructions<\/li>\n<li>turn daily challenges into a game &#8211; when things seem fun everything changes<\/li>\n<li>watch your tone of voice \u2013 shouting often backfires<\/li>\n<li>be patient &#8211; give them time to respond positively<\/li>\n<li>offer choices \u2013 this helps kids feel important<\/li>\n<li>notice and encourage them with words<\/li>\n<li>make it easy to co-operate \u2013 speak as if they\u2019re already listening<\/li>\n<li>let them decide \u2013 and face the consequences<\/li>\n<li>say \u201cplease\u201d and \u201cthank you\u201d \u2013 when kids feel respected co-operation comes naturally<\/li>\n<li>admit your mistakes \u2013 they\u2019re very forgiving when we\u2019re humble<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: revert; color: initial;\">Remember sometimes it&#8217;s the smallest things that make the biggest difference for them \u2013 a look, a genuine smile, a hug when you notice he&#8217;s a bit down, a moment of heartfelt listening.
