{"id":1022,"date":"2010-01-12T15:08:53","date_gmt":"2010-01-12T13:08:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/zaparents-blog\/?p=1022"},"modified":"2022-10-04T10:59:17","modified_gmt":"2022-10-04T08:59:17","slug":"healthy-family-recipes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/blog\/lifestyle\/food-recipes\/healthy-family-recipes\/","title":{"rendered":"Healthy family recipes"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Low Fat Butternut soup<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Serves: <\/strong>4<strong><br \/>\nPreparation time:<\/strong> 10 minutes<strong><br \/>\nCooking time:<\/strong> 40 minutes<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">Ingredients<\/h3>\n<p>1 tbsp olive oil<\/p>\n<p>2 onions, peeled and sliced<\/p>\n<p>1 clove garlic, peeled and crushed<\/p>\n<p>1 tsp cumin powder<\/p>\n<p>1 tsp cardamom seeds, toasted and ground<\/p>\n<p>1 red chilli, finely diced<\/p>\n<p>500g butternut, peeled and cubed<\/p>\n<p>200ml orange juice<\/p>\n<p>300ml fat free milk<\/p>\n<p>500ml vegetable stock<\/p>\n<p>handful fresh coriander leaves (optional)<\/p>\n<p>freshly ground salt and black pepper to taste<\/p>\n<h3>Method<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Heat the oil in a large saucepan, add the onions and cook until translucent.<\/li>\n<li>Add the garlic, cumin, cardamom and chilli. Cook for 2minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Add the butternut and stir well to coat the spices evenly on the butternut.<\/li>\n<li>Add the liquid and gently simmer until the butternut is soft. If using add the coriander.<\/li>\n<li>Blend the soup until smooth; add seasoning if desired. Bring back to the boil and serve with fresh country bread.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">Pork and Chicken Steamed Cabbage Parcels<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Cabbage-rolls-featured-image.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Cabbage-rolls-featured-image.jpg 960w, https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Cabbage-rolls-featured-image-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/Cabbage-rolls-featured-image-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Serves: <\/strong>4<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparation time:<\/strong> 10 minutes<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cooking time:<\/strong> 20 minutes<\/p>\n<h3>Ingredients<\/h3>\n<p>8 cabbage leaves<\/p>\n<p>200g lean pork mince<\/p>\n<p>200g chicken mince<\/p>\n<p>3 small chopped onions<\/p>\n<p>8 chopped spring onions<\/p>\n<p>4 crushed garlic cloves<\/p>\n<p>2 chopped chillies<\/p>\n<p>200g cooked jasmine rice<\/p>\n<p>salt and pepper to taste<\/p>\n<p>30ml soy sauce<\/p>\n<p>Chinese BBQ sauce to serve<\/p>\n<h3>Method<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Steam cabbage leaves for 30seconds, remove hard core.<\/li>\n<li>Stir-fry pork, chicken, onions, garlic and chilli until cooked.<\/li>\n<li>Add rice and seasoning,<\/li>\n<li>Wrap mixture in the leaves and secure with a toothpick.<\/li>\n<li>Steam for 10minutes and serve sliced with the BBQ sauce.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Chicken Stir Fry<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_249147\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-249147\" style=\"width: 720px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/chicken-schezwan-noodles-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 720px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 720\/480;\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/chicken-schezwan-noodles-6.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.jozikids.co.za\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/chicken-schezwan-noodles-6-300x200.jpg 300w\" data-sizes=\"auto\" data-original-sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-249147\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><\/p>\n<p><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Serves: <\/strong>4<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparation time: <\/strong>5 minutes<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cooking time:<\/strong> 5 minutes<\/p>\n<h3>Ingredients<\/h3>\n<p>1tbsp oil<\/p>\n<p>2tsp each crushed garlic and ginger<\/p>\n<p>1 tsp crushed chilli<\/p>\n<p>4 skinless chicken breasts, sliced<\/p>\n<p>4 oyster mushrooms or handful button mushrooms, sliced<\/p>\n<p>2 peppers, sliced<\/p>\n<p>Small bunch spring onions, sliced<\/p>\n<p>Handful mung bean sprouts<\/p>\n<p>1 packet noodles, soaked and rinsed under cold water<\/p>\n<p>2tbsp soy sauce<\/p>\n<p>Handful basil leaves, roughly chopped<\/p>\n<h3>Method<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Heat the oil in a wok or fry pan.<\/li>\n<li>Add the garlic, ginger and chilli and cook for 1 minute.<\/li>\n<li>Add the chicken and stir fry until browned.<\/li>\n<li>Add the vegetables and stir fry for a further 2minutes.
