South African law provides for two forms of education – ‘school education’ and ‘home education’. School education is institutional education can legally be provided ONLY in public schools and REGISTERED private schools.
People who bring other people’s children into their homes to teach them are, therefore, NOT operating “home schools”. They are operating schools, and if these schools are not registered as private schools, they are illegal private schools and both the owners and managers of the school as well as the parents of school-age children, who attend such schools, can be prosecuted.
I provide a distance schooling option that can be completed at home and comply with the above, and is registered with the Dept. of Education, so all certificates+ reports are valid and issued by ‘Amalusi’ the accreditation body in SA. These can be used to enter University, Tech etc. This is not true of all home school centres.
The curriculum is provided on a CD and the student gets an interactive Internet site to log into every day. The student logs into my Centres Skype site where lessons and tutoring are given .
I also offer Student Management services - where I manage a students assignments, homework and exam preparation, while they attend a traditional school.
