Psycho-Educational Assessments / Global Assessmente:
A global assessment of functioning aims at evaluating a child’s intellectual or cognitive abilities, educational acheivement levels and social/emotional functioning. This assists in determining a child’s strengths and areas of development, which inform appropriate educational recommendations.
This assessment is recommended for children/adolescents who are not coping at school, who are performing poorly or not making progress, and for children who are displaying poor motivation, refusing to go to school and showing other signs of emotional or behavioural distress.
The global assessment can also be used as a means of determining your child's overall level of functioning in the different spheres, in order to best support future development and learning, and assit in educational planning.
School Readiness Assessments
This assessment evaluates a child’s level of development to determine whether the child is equipped with the skills necessary to meet the educational, social and emotional demands of formal schooling. The school readiness battery assesses a child’s physical, sensory & motor development, cognitive development, and social and emotional development.
Subject Choice assessments
Subject choice assessments are aimed at assisting Grade 8 learners select appropriate school subjects for Grade 9-12. As subject choice at this level impacts on future study options & career choice, this assessment provides valuable insight and information in order to guide informed subject selections. The assessment includes aptitude, personality and interest questionnaires.
Career Choice assessmentss
The career assessment that I offer includes an initial interview, 3-4 hours of assessment, a 50 minute feedback session and a written report with recommendations. The assessment focuses on aptitude/cognitive ability, personality characteristics, values and interests, which all integrated to try and determine a match between particular career fields and the individual’s ability, personality and interests. The outcome is more insight into study and career choices and decisions, and constructive information to help make these choices.
