Paediatrically-trained therapists help children in all ages & stages of development.
Every phase of a child's development has its challenges.
Whether its your colicky infant, your temperamental toddler or your audacious adolescent who needs support with their physical and/or mental development, Paedia'tricks' can help.
The team offers a variety of supportive treatments and assessments for the different ages and stages of development:
Homeopathy
Homeopathy assists with the paedia-tricky parental task of keeping kids well. However, enhancing little ones' immune systems is only one of many ways that homeopathy supports development. Digestive, sleep and eating difficulties as well as emotional and learning issues can be helped with the correctly-selected homeopathic remedy. An initial homeopathic consultation is a detailed history-taking where all your little one's symptoms are discussed from birth. An examination, if necessary, is done and at the end of the session a remedy is prescribed that is 'custom-made' to strengthen your child's constitution.
Conditions such as colic, teething, fevers, constipation, bed-wetting, nightmares, earache and anxiety can be treated safely with homeopathy.
Initial Consultation: R420 for 75 minutes
Follow Up: R370 for 45 minutes
Psychometrist
Our psychometrist is neurodevelopmentally trained to assess that children are on track physically, mentally and socially. Cognitive assessments are done with a view to provide insights on how best to assist children to reach their learning potential.
Assessments:R500 an hour
The assessment process begins with a parent intake session where information on the child is gained. Depending on the age of the child and the areas to be assessed, between 2 hours and 6 hours is required for the assessment. A parental feedback session is where the findings of the assessment are discussed and a report is given.
Learning Support: R250/ hour
Learning Support Therapy is a process that keeps learning relevant, authentic and interesting in order to aid memory. It recognises that some children learn differently to others and that when learning is embedded in familiar and enjoyable experiences, it is more likely to be remembered. The basic building blocks of literacy are "snuck" into activities that are meaningful to the child. The therapeutic aspect that occurs in the context of learning support is that every child deserves praise and unconditional positive regard. Children who feel comfortable and safe in the learning environment have a better sense of self and are more motivated.
Before learning support can begin an educational assessment is required in order to detect the areas of difficulty and strength. Weekly sessions of individualised learning support are done and a theme is covered over a number of weeks.
Homeopathy, Psychometry and Learning Support are all claimable from your medical aid.
