Sport and Movement programme
The concept of Playball started more than 20 years ago when a sport coach developed it in a sports environment. And today, after all theses years, Playball is still run by the same principles: We believe that the program makes an excellent contribution to every part of a young child's lfe by developing physical skills. The success of the program does not start and end with the development of motor skills though, but rather lies in its approach. At Playball your child will be coached positively and encouraged to develop life skills which will improve self image. We believe that success - however small - leads to confidence and further success. Playball is an educational program. Sessions are structured and coaches are hand picked and trained every 12 weeks. The concept has been successful all over the world and is currently boasting franchises in the USA, Canada, England, Ireland, Wales, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Qatar, the Arabian Emirates and also neighbouring Swaziland, Botswana and Namibia.
At Playball your child will improve physical skills to an extent which will enable him/her to participate in sport with confidence. More importantly, your child will be exposed to certain developmental skills which will assist in school readiness and as a result will probably show improved results in the classroom!
Playball has developed learning material for each age group separately according to developmental milestones for that specific age. This ensures effective learning as content is just right for your child. The younger groups (2-5 years) focus more on motor development (muscle tone, dominancy, bilateral symmetry and mid-line crossing)and motor skills (co-ordination, balance, timing, spatial orientation). The older groups (6-9 years) actually begin to play the following sports: tennis, hockey, cricket, soccer, volleyball, basketball and baseball. At Playball we only teach 8 children per session - only 6 in the 2-3 age group. This guarantees individual attention and results. Children receive progress reports and are rewarded with certificates on completing a stage. Playball coaches are partners in education who work alongside school staff to give your child the best chance in developing optimally.
