Irene Vilage Theatre Productions to date
After the hit of Jack and the Beanstalk (April) and The Little Mermaid (July), audiences should brace themselves for Pretoria Youth Theatre's forthcoming production... a dynamically innovative and stunning production of "Beauty and the Beast". This production features some of Pretoria's strongest talent and promises to be a hit for both young and old. Colourful sets, stunning costumes and a witty script have once again been designed to bring this glorious story to life.
Watch spectacular scenes like the transformation from Prince to Beast and beautiful duets and solos.Featuring talent of Steven Ward and Danielle Joubert as well as introducing fun characters like Cogs, Wick and the dancing Matt! Running from 1-14 April 2012
Pretoria Youth Theatre
The Pretoria Youth Theatre started in 1989 with just a handful of students at the old teacher's training college in Sunnyside. Then known as the drama Workshop, the youth thetre provided opportunities for pupils to learn various dramatic and performing skills. The group then moved to the Little Theatre in Skiiner Street and then to Glenstantia Primary School where the saturday afternoon programme was introduced, In 1999 the Pretoria group under the direction of Dr CJ Martin moved into the Breytenbach Theatre, where Cinderella was performed. It was an instant hit and proved that theatre was here to stay! Currently, the Pretoria Youth Theatre have thousands of children on it’s records, making it the largest Youth Theatre in Gauteng. The Pretoria youth Theatre is currently involved in 2 aspects: Workshops and Productions.
Theatre Workshops
Workshops usually take place every second Saturday and Productions are run every 3 months for the public at The Irene Village Theatre. April, July, October and December.
