The Origins Centre

The Origins Centre tells a story of how all humans began in Africa, developed tools, language, art and spirituality. The Centre contains the latest interactive multi-media equipment. (Hologram and virtual rain animal). Workshops for bushman art and shadow dancing, story telling, shadow puppets, music, dance and more. We have programs for schools and workshops or come and visit us for a tour. On our premises we have the museum, Cafe Fino restaurant which has a children's menu, and a curio shop.

Kids can explore and learn about archaeology

The museum offers a hands-on learning experience for kids to learn about the history of modern humankind. Children will love being able to handle the replica hominid skulls that are tucked away, waiting to be discovered. Origins is proud to announce the arrival of a collection of dinosaurs and early mammals which are guaranteed to stimulate the imagination. See the worlds first dinosaur egg and life size dinosaur models.

Holiday activities

Family activities in the museum. There will be an archaeological dig, art activities and museum trails which will entertain and educate children of all ages. They will have the chance to interact with archaeologists and learn more about this interesting career.

This is a fantastic museum for the whole family. My 8 year old loved it. Lots to learn and see. We really enjoyed the displays, the museum shop is great for gifts and we spent time exploring indigenous plants in the court yard. A great afternoon.
