WHAT IS SCOUTS?
Scouts is a volunteer movement started over 100 years ago by Lord Robert Baden Powell. The movement exists in almost every country around the world. Our Patron, former President Nelson Mandela, agrees with the principles, morals and values of the Scout movement, and believes that the future leaders of our country. Today's youth will greatly benefit from the Scout programme, particularly the skills, principles, morals and values taught by the programme that are invaluable for the future leaders of our great country!

WHY JOIN CUBS AND SCOUTS?
1st Craighall Scouts has a proud tradition dating back over 60 years, and is proud to be part of the biggest Scout District in Gauteng! In addition to having some serious fun, boys and girls who join the Scouts and Cubs will learn and grow through mainly outdoors programmes aimed at learning:
Leadership skills
Discipline
Team work
Ways to live with nature
Community responsibility
All activities are run by trained adult volunteers who are responsible for the safety of the Troop and the Pack. In addition to weekly meetings, we participate in a variety of Regional events, ranging from Camping Standards competitions, to KonTiki (Raft building weekend adventure), to Cycle Rallies. In 2009, we were proud to be part of only a handful of Groups to be invited to take part in the prestigious Chairman's Challenge - a Raft Race down the Vaal!

Cubs: Fridays 17h00 – 19h00
Scouts: Fridays 19h00 – 21h00
R 1,615.00 per year (pro-rated per term)
ADULTS ARE ALSO WELCOME!
Adult leaders are welcome; parents of Scouts and Cubs are also encouraged in participate and support the Group where they can.
PARTY AND VENUE HIRE
We offer a large hall (+/- 8 m X 12 m), a basic kitchen, ablutions, and plenty of parking! Please contact Alan on 083 269 7796 to discuss the possibility of using our hall.
