Tsenang Homes of Safety focuses on the value of the family system.
Having the security of a loving and caring family is precious. Every baby and child has the need to belong to a family and to experience love and acceptance. In a functional family a child will be exposed to structure and acceptable norms and values.
A traumatised child, however, has been exposed to dysfunctional family dynamics and functioning.
In order to rectify the child's frame of reference, it is vital to expose the child in crisis to a loving, stable and secure family environment. It is within this environment that the child will learn about meaningful relationships and communication, while shaping his own unique identity.
Sadly, the reality of disintegrating family life is witnessed on a daily basis, with parents dying from Aids, poor parents wandering off, leaving children to try and survive without sufficient support systems, parents separating and leaving a trail of heartbroken and torn-apart children behind. Tsenang Homes of Safety wants to address this problem. We strive to give every child in crisis the experience of a safe, loving, stable family environment until their future is determined, be it: Foster Care, Adoption or Re-unification with their biological families.
