This winter we are especially excited to tell everyone about our new Kids for Kids iniative. We believe that children can do amazing things when they put their minds to it. So we are looking for schools to get involved and do good on behalf of the children of Jo'burg Child Welfare. Getting involved as a school can mean many things; for example, it could mean running a fundraiser, doing a collection, visiting one of our centres, etc. We at JCW can suggest ideas for how schools can help. We are also looking forward to ideas schools have for how they can help! For more information about getting involevd with Kids for Kids, or for general information on volunteering, giving in-kind, or giving a financial donation on a once-off or regular basis, please email Sarah at fundraising@jhbchildwelfare.org.za.
Jo’burg Child Welfare (NPO # 000-566) which is over 100 years old, cares for 45,000 children and their families each year. These are children who have been abandoned, neglected, abused, consented for adoption or orphaned. They are less fortunate than us, but they are no less deserving. Child and Family Unit
For the reporting of all new cases of abuse, abandonment, neglect and orphanhood.
Adoptions -- National and Inter-Country
Dedicated to the permanent placement of abandoned babies and children and those for whom consent for adoption has been given.
Adoptees looking for birth parents in SA
If the adoptee/birthmother cannot remember or they really do not know which adoption agency handled their adoption, its best to contact the Registrar who has a record of all adoptions done in SA on 012 312-7145
Foster Care and Family Re-Integration Services
Provides recruitment, screening and training of foster parents. Re-integration services are rendered to biological parents of children in foster care and residential care facilities.
Child Abuse Treatment and Training Services
A specialised sexual abuse unit to address the overwhelming number of child sexual abuse cases.
Aganang Learning Centre
To train social auxillary workers as a direct response to the desperate shortage of social workers in South Africa.
Orphaned and Vulnerable Children Forum
A collective of community-based organisations geared towards orphaned and vulnerable children. There are 55 CBOs receiving advise and support from JCW through this Forum.
Advocacy
An active advocacy programme through which we lobby for children’s rights within the Government.
SANTAC and the Regional Child Trafficking Network
Through which JCW is involved in advocacy issues surrounding child trafficking.
A Chance to Play
An initiative JCW is involved in which teaches life skills learned through sport by facilitating play activities in the inner city.
Leadership and Innovation Network for Collaboration in the Children's Sector
To encourage leaders working in the children's sector to act more effectively by building resilience and encouraging collaboration.
Othandweni Family Care Centre
The Centre offers residential care for 90 abused, abandoned, and neglected children between the ages of 0 and 18. It also offers accommodation and support to pregnant and destitute mothers.
Princess Alice Adoption Home
The Home provides residential care to 30 babies who have been abandoned, neglected, abused, or consented for adoption. It also offers accommodation and support to pregnant and destitute mothers.
Elton John Masibambisane Centre for Orphaned and Vulnerable Children
The Centre assists youth and gogo-headed households by providing psychosocial support, material assistance, bereavement and general counselling to children between the ages of 2 and 18 years, and to their caregivers.
Thembelethu Economic Empowerment and Lifeskills Centre
Thembelethu implements a sustainable poverty alleviation and economic empowerment programme to unemployed women in the Johannesburg CBD.

Any items we are unable to use to fulfill the needs of our children, we share with other worthy causes or we sell through the Hospice Charity Shops in an effort to generate much needed funds. Contact us to arrange a collection or liase with Hospice by phoning 011 728 0737 and earmarking your donation for JCW.
Provide necessities
Please view up-to-date wish lists on our website www.jhbchildwelfare.org.za for what we use and need most frequently and urgently. For example, nappies, formula, etc.
Organize your own fundraiser
